Matthew is the inventor of the first successful single solid core conductor for audio use. He proved to the world that solid-core conductors were the leading edge of audio cable design.
The real awakening for the audio industry came in 1988, when TARA Labs’ Phase 2 solid-core Speaker cable, wiped every other product right off the map and re-wrote the rules of audio cable design.

Success came with real research and scientific knowledge, along with objective electrical measurements to back up what we could hear. Other audio cable designers followed along and adopted Matthew’s breakthrough designs in their new products, and they still do.

Matthew is the inventor of the frequency-tuned, High Purity Oxygen-Free Silver Solid-Core conductor… and secondly, the inventor of modern air-tube audio cable technology. “I spent my early years listening to the sound of literally hundreds of different conductors, and listening to the sound of different insulation materials too. Insulation materials have a technical name and that name is dielectric. Dielectrics [insulation materials] sound different because when used with electrical conductors in a cable, the dielectric material stores and releases energy at different frequencies.”

“In the very early days I made experiment analog interconnects using conductors with and without dielectric, or insulation materials… so, I already knew way ahead of everybody else, which dielectric or plastic material sounded the best.”

“I’m the guy who first announced that the most important factor for a dielectric material was not its strength, but its dielectric absorption… and that dielectric absorption was the cause of the audible distortion from these plastic or dielectric materials.”

“Let’s talk for a second about plastic materials, and how they sound. PTFE [Teflon] is not the most neutral or revealing plastic material. Yes, it has great dielectric strength, but the audio signal is relatively weak, so an audio signal is not going to arc across or burn-through even simple plastic materials. So any plastic material or dielectric might be audibly better.”

“What we want is a dielectric material that sounds like air. And with the chemical modification of the plastic or insulation material; we developed our own insulation or dielectric material to sound as neutral as air… … or a vacuum. Some of you might remember that, it was TARA Labs who invented the world’s first vacuum dielectric audio cable. That was me.”

“If I don’t use stranded conductors, or litz wire, or aluminum conductors or round conductors of different sizes, or a bizarre combination of different conductors… there’s a good reason and it’s likely to be backed up by a real scientific explanation.”
