Founder, Matthew Bond Audio

1978

First use of solid core copper for audio.

1979

Listening tests of solid core conductors of different gauge sizes. Larger gauge conductors sound rolled-off in the high frequencies.

1980

In listening to stranded Monster cable and later Supra cable versus solid core copper there was an audible difference. The popular multi-stranded cables sounded muffled and rolled-off in the high frequencies.

1981

Listening tests of different dielectric (insulation) materials compared to uninsulated conductors of the same conductor material and gauge.

1982

Invention of air dielectric interconnects and speaker cables.

1983

The Phase 2 speaker cable. 2 phase coherent solid core conductors.

1984

Founding of ARAL (Absolute Reference Audio Labs)

1985

Invention and listening tests of different methods of shielding for interconnect cables and development of floating shield and floating ground stations. RF/EMI energy in the shield is not connected to circuit ground.

1987

ARAL becomes known as TARA Labs

1988

January CES show. Meeting Dick Olsher and submitting Phase 2 speaker cable for review. In July, rave review in Stereophile of the Phase 2 speaker cable, “… a triumph of solid core technology.” The review dismisses Monster, Audioquest, etc.

1989

The TFA Return (Transonic Frequencies Aligned). A remarkable invention using a third conductor, floating at one end and twisted/aligned with the negative run of the Phase 2 speaker cable. This invention adds in-phase HF bandwidth as the TFA conductor acts as a seamless high pass filter. Development of the Temporal Continuum, a variable TFA conductor.

1992

Experimenting and listening to rectangular solid core conductors. Comparing rectangular conductors to round conductors of the same gauge. Creation of objective measurement system CCZT, measures rising impedance with frequency in conductors of increasing gauge size.

1994

Introduction to TARA Labs of floating shields attached to outboard ground stations whereby the RF/EMI energy in the shield is not connected to circuit ground.

1996

Invention of the Air Series using extruded air-tube technology with rectangular solid core conductors in smaller channels within the air-tube.

1998

Invention of the vacuum dielectric Zero interconnect.

2000

Invention of the Omega speaker cable.

2010

and later: Invention of the flexible Zero Evolution interconnect and Omega speaker cable for TARA Labs. Design and invention of the dual-mono floating ground station.

2016

to the present day: The founding of Matthew Bond Audio and the invention of the finest speaker cables and interconnect cables ever developed, eclipsing all previous audio cables for TARA Labs, along with all other high-end audio cable products.

“MY VISION IS TO CREATE THE BEST AUDIO CABLES IN THE WORLD, REGARDLESS OF THE COST OF PARTS OR MATERIAL QUALITY. I STRIVE TO REPRODUCE THE LIVE MUSICAL EVENT.”
